How to Create That “Famous” Bokeh Effect in GIMP

In this GIMP tutorial, I show you how to create an EXTREMELY realistic “famous” bokeh effect seen on celebrity Instagram accounts across the world! This effect essentially mimics the lens blur or focus blur created by your camera and lens (typically a wider lens will produce a shallow “depth-of-field” – which produces the bokeh effect). I also use the free G’MIC plugin to generate additional bokeh for those of you who want to add more atmosphere to your photo (i.e. add more lights or more depth to your image).

This is a great photo manipulation tutorial for beginners! GIMP is a free alternative to Photoshop and can do truly amazing things for photo editing and manipulation.
