In this tutorial I show you how to make a faux watercolor effect in Photoshop Elements using filters and layer masks in Expert Mode.

00:40 Set up Watercolor Brush
02:26 Making Background – color and texture
04:02 Adding the Flower Photo to the project
04:45 Reposition and Rotate the Flower Photo
05:11 Adding the Hummingbird Photo to the project
05:25 Reposition and Resize the Hummingbird Photo
05:49 Duplicate both the Flower and Hummingbird layers
06:25 Making a selection around the Hummingbird layer
08:09 Remove the background from the Hummingbird layer
08:30 Using Gaussian Blur on the Hummingbird layer
09:27 Making 3 more duplicates of the original Hummingbird photo layer
09:50 Repeating teh above steps for the Flower layer
11:58 Add Filter Gallery Paint Daubs effect to next Bird layer
12:40 Add a Layer Mask to this Paint Daubs layer and show just the main bird image using the Watercolor brush
13:53 Clean up the edges of the layer mask
14:37 Add a Layer Mask to Blurry Bird layer, use the Watercolor Brush to add effect using layer mask
15:42 Repeat above steps on Flower
20:37 Add Filter Gallery Sponge effect on next Bird Layer
22:46 Repeat above steps on Flower
24:45 Adding layer mask to last Bird layer and using Watercolor brush bring in some of that to project
26:48 Repeat above steps on Flower
27:49 Merge Flower layers into new layer for a background flower
28:46 Show Flower and Bird layers
28:51 Last trick – Add a watercolor stain to the Bird
